Fredericksburg is one of my favorite towns in Texas because of its rich history and scenic beauty. This charming Texas town is the perfect place for wine enthusiasts and outdoor lovers alike. This town is 4.5 hours away from Houston, but only 1.5 hours away from Austin and San Antonio.

This itinerary will give you unique things to see and visit in Fredericksburg, Texas. It will also include places to stay, where to enjoy delicious food, lovely wineries to visit and fun outdoor places to explore while visiting Fredericksburg, Texas. Get ready to have a fun adventure with your besties, partner or family!

Where to Stay

Fredericksburg has a variety of Airbnbs, VRBOs, Bed and Breakfasts and hotels, but below are two places that I have personally stayed at and loved. One is a hotel and the other one is a Treehouse & Landscape resort.

For a cozy & pet-friendly stay:

The Cattle Creek Hideout has it all—peaceful vibes, stunning views, and plenty of charm. It’s super affordable and even better, it’s pet-friendly, so your furry friend can tag along for the adventure. Whether you’re curling up by the fire, exploring nearby trails, or just soaking in the quiet, this spot is perfect for unwinding and making memories. Trust me, it’s the kind of place you’ll want to come back to again and again!

For a very unique escape:

If you want to stay in a modern and creative lodging where you have your own private hot tub and gorgeous view of hill country nature, you need to stay at Onera. This place is minutes away from Main street. It has a community heated pool, sauna, and magical tree views for you to enjoy on your relaxing getaway.

For a romantic stay:

The Main Street Retreat is ideal for a couple and it’s located on Main Street. If you don’t want to use your car this is an ideal stay because you can walk to the restaurants and shops. It has a community hot tub and pool, which you can enjoy after a day of exploring.

Day 1

12 p.m. On your way to Fredericksburg grab a tasty lunch at Rolling in Thyme & Dough on Dripping Springs. This place has delicious sandwiches and pastries. I really enjoyed the vibes of this little cafe. It also has a great outdoor patio.

1:30 p.m. After enjoying a delicious lunch make a quick stop at Pedernales Falls State Park, this is one of my favorite state parks in Texas because of the view of the Pedernales Falls. During the summer you can enjoy swimming in the Pedernales River.

5 p.m. Check into your beautiful lodging and relax for a bit before getting ready to walk around Main Street and have dinner.

7 p.m. Have dinner at The Auslander, which is one of my favorite traditional German restaurant in Fredericksburg. The interior decoration of the restaurant really makes you feel like you are in Germany. Some of the dishes we ordered and loved were the German Meatballs (Klopse) and Spicy Texas Schnitzel. Try the famous Apple Strudel, it’s sooo good! I’m literally craving it as I type this.

10 p.m. Go to sleep to get ready for a day of adventures!

Day 2 – If want an outdoor and night life adventure

7:30 a.m. Grab a quick bite and coffee at Caliche Coffee.

8:30 a.m. Arrive to Enchanted Rock State Natural Area. If you are planning on visiting this beautiful state park, I highly recommend you to make a reservation months in advanced because this parks gets full. You definitely need to hike the massive pink granite dome, the view of the hill country from there is just breathtaking.

12:30 p.m. After a morning of hiking, enjoy a delicious lunch at Sunset Grill. Try their Eggs Benedict, they are delicious!

3 p.m. Head back to your lodging to shower and relax.

6 p.m. Have a delicious dinner at Arch Ray. This place has a beautiful interior with a chimney for you to relax after dinner. There is also a lovey patio for you to enjoy your dinner with a gorgeous sunset view. Their flatbreads and Cesar Salad are perfect to enjoy with a glass of wine.

9 p.m. If you want to enjoy a night out in Fredericksburg you can enjoy live music at Silver Creek Beer Garden & Grill and go dancing at Crossroads Saloon & Steakhouse.

Day 2 – If you want to visit wineries & breweries

8 a.m. Enjoy a tasty breakfast at Texas Sunrise. Order the eggs Benedicts, they are very tasty.

10 a.m. Head to Das Peach Haus and eat a tasty peach cobbler with wine while enjoying a lovely lake view. This place also has a shop with many different items which contain peaches like jams to soaps.

12 p.m. For your second winery stop by Beckers Vineyards. This is one of my favorite wineries in Fredericksburg because it has a beautiful patio with lavender and flower fields. there is also live music and food trucks on the weekends.

4 p.m. Take a tour of Altstadt Brewery‘s copper-plated Rolec brewhouse and learn how they make their beer. After the tour, enjoy delicious German dishes with live music on Saturday and Sunday at the Grand Hall of Alstadt Brewery.

7 p.m. Head back to your lodging and enjoy a relaxing evening.

Day 3 – Ending your trip visiting a state park

9 a.m. Enjoy a tasty breakfast at Texas Sunrise after checking out from your lodging.

11 a.m. On your way back home stop at Lyndon B. Johnson State Park & Historic Site. This is a very unique state park in Johnson City, where you can experience a living history farm. I really enjoyed seeing the Sauer-Beck­mann Farm because you get to watch park rangers wear historical clothing and working the farm like how it was in the early 1900s. You will be able to ask them questions about the farm and what they are doing. The park rangers do an amazing job at responding and showing you what they are doing. As you drive around Lyndon B. Johnson’s ranch, you will also be able to spot bisons and longhorns. Entrance to this state park is FREE.

Day 3 – Ending your trip visiting a castle winery

10 a.m. Enjoy a delicious breakfast at Sunset Grill after checking out from your lodging. Try their Eggs Benedict, they are delicious!

12 p.m. On your way bak home stop at 290 Wine Castle. This two story winery makes you feel like you are in a real castle. If you don’t want to drink they have non-alcoholic wine that you can enjoy. The outdoor patio has a breathtaking view of the Texas Hill Country.

Summary

If you love the outdoors, history and wine you will have an amazing time visiting Fredericksburg, Texas. Every time I go back I always have a blast and I know you will too. This place is full of adventure and delicious food everywhere you go.

If you want to enjoy this place without too many people I recommend you to visit during the week or the off season which is January and February. On the weekends in the spring and fall wineries and restaurants can get full and the wait can be long, so make sure you make reservations ahead of time.

Dónde Hospedarse

Si quieres alojarte en un lugar moderno y creativo donde tengas tu propio jacuzzi privado y una vista hermosa de la naturaleza de Hill Country, necesitas hospedarte en Onera. Este lugar está a minutos de Main Street. Tiene una piscina comunitaria climatizada, sauna y vistas mágicas de los árboles para que disfrutes en tu escapada relajante.

Para una estancia romántica:

El Main Street Retreat es ideal para una pareja y está ubicado en Main Street. Si no quieres usar tu coche, este es un lugar ideal porque puedes caminar a los restaurantes y tiendas. Tiene un jacuzzi y piscina comunitarios, que puedes disfrutar después de un día de exploración.

Día 1

12 p.m. De camino a Fredericksburg, detente a almorzar en Rolling in Thyme & Dough  en Dripping Springs. Este lugar tiene deliciosos sándwiches y pasteles. Realmente disfruté del ambiente de este pequeño café. También tiene un excelente patio al aire libre.

1:30 p.m. Después de disfrutar de un delicioso almuerzo, haz una parada rápida en el Parque Estatal Pedernales Falls, uno de mis parques estatales favoritos en Texas por la vista de las cascadas Pedernales. Durante el verano, puedes nadar en el río Pedernales.

5 p.m. Regístrate en tu hermoso alojamiento y relájate un poco antes de prepararte para caminar por Main Street y cenar.

7 p.m. Cena en The Auslander, uno de mis restaurantes alemanes tradicionales favoritos en Fredericksburg. La decoración interior del restaurante realmente te hace sentir como si estuvieras en Alemania. Algunos de los platos que pedimos y nos encantaron fueron las albóndigas alemanas (Klopse) y el schnitzel picante de Texas. Prueba el famoso strudel de manzana, ¡es tan bueno! Literalmente lo estoy deseando mientras escribo esto.

10 p.m. Ve a dormir para prepararte para un día de aventuras.

Día 2 – Si te encanta la naturaleza y la vida nocturna

7:30 a.m. Toma un bocado rápido y café en Caliche Coffee.

8:30 a.m. Llega al Enchanted Rock State Natural Area. Si planeas visitar este hermoso parque estatal, te recomiendo encarecidamente que hagas una reserva con meses de anticipación porque este parque se llena. Definitivamente necesitas hacer senderismo en la enorme cúpula de granito rosa; la vista del Hill Country desde allí es impresionante.

12:30 p.m. Después de una mañana de senderismo, disfruta de un delicioso almuerzo en Sunset Grill. Prueba sus Huevos Benedictinos, ¡son deliciosos!

3 p.m. Regresa a tu alojamiento para ducharte y relajarte.

6 p.m. Cena deliciosa en Arch Ray. Este lugar tiene un hermoso interior con una chimenea para que te relajes después de la cena. También tiene un encantador patio donde puedes disfrutar tu cena con una vista impresionante del atardecer. Sus pizzas y ensaladas César son perfectas para disfrutar con una copa de vino.

9 p.m. Si deseas disfrutar de una noche en Fredericksburg, puedes disfrutar de música en vivo en Silver Creek Beer Garden & Grill y bailar en Crossroads Saloon & Steakhouse.

Día 2 – Si quieres visitar viñedos y cervecerías

8 a.m. Disfruta de un delicioso desayuno en Texas Sunrise. Ordena los huevos Benedictinos, son muy sabrosos.

10 a.m. Dirígete a Das Peach Haus y disfruta de un delicioso cobbler de durazno con vino mientras disfrutas de una encantadora vista al lago. Este lugar también tiene una tienda con muchos productos que contienen duraznos, como mermeladas y jabones.

12 p.m. Para tu segunda parada de viñedos, visita Beckers Vineyards. Esta es uno de mis viñedos favoritos en Fredericksburg porque tiene un hermoso patio con campos de lavanda y flores. También hay música en vivo y food trucks los fines de semana.

2 p.m. Para tu última visita a un viñedo, visita Rhinory. Este viñedo te hace sentir como si estuvieras en un safari. Si no hace demasiado calor o frío afuera, podrás ver a Blake, un rinoceronte blanco sureño.

4 p.m. Realiza un tour por la cervecería  Altstadt Brewery y su sala de maceración de cobre Rolec, y aprende cómo hacen su cerveza. Después del tour, disfruta de deliciosos platos alemanes con música en vivo los sábados y domingos en el Grand Hall de Alstadt Brewery.

7 p.m. Regresa a tu alojamiento y disfruta de una tarde relajante.

Día 3 – Finalizando tu viaje visitando un parque estatal

9 a.m. Disfruta de un delicioso desayuno en Texas Sunrise  después de hacer el check-out de tu alojamiento.

11 a.m. De camino de regreso a casa, haz una parada en el Parque Estatal y Sitio Histórico Lyndon B. Johnson. Este es un parque estatal muy único en Johnson City, donde puedes experimentar una granja de historia viva. Disfruté mucho viendo la Granja Sauer-Beckmann porque puedes ver a los guardabosques del parque vistiendo ropa histórica y trabajando en la granja como se hacía a principios de 1900. Podrás hacerles preguntas sobre la granja y lo que están haciendo. Los guardabosques hacen un trabajo increíble respondiendo y mostrándote lo que hacen. Mientras conduces por el rancho de Lyndon B. Johnson, también podrás ver bisontes y toros cimarrones. ¡La entrada a este parque estatal es GRATUITA!

Día 3 – Terminando tu viaje visitando un viñedo en forma de castillo

10 a.m. Disfruta de un delicioso desayuno en Sunset Grill después de hacer el check-out de tu alojamiento. Prueba sus Huevos Benedictinos, ¡son deliciosos!

12 p.m. De camino a casa, haz una parada en 290 Wine Castle. Este viñedo de dos pisos te hace sentir como si estuvieras en un verdadero castillo. Si no quieres beber alcohol, tienen vinos sin alcohol que puedes disfrutar. El patio al aire libre tiene una vista impresionante del Texas Hill Country.

Resumen

Si te encantan la naturaleza, la historia y el vino, tendrás un tiempo increíble visitando Fredericksburg, Texas. Cada vez que regreso siempre me divierto mucho y sé que tú también lo harás. Este lugar está lleno de aventuras y comida deliciosa dondequiera que vayas.

Si deseas disfrutar este lugar sin demasiada gente, te recomiendo visitarlo durante la semana o en la temporada baja, que es en enero y febrero. Los fines de semana en primavera y otoño, los viñedos y restaurantes pueden llenarse y la espera puede ser larga, así que asegúrate de hacer reservaciones con anticipación.
