I love visiting Galveston at least once a month to enjoy beautiful views, delicious food and just to relax at the beach.

Where to Stay

Galveston has a lot of unique stays from beautiful beach houses to condos with beautiful views. Below are some places I have stayed in Galveston and loved.

For a family vacation:

Sea La Vie is a beach house beautifully decorated and very cozy for the whole family. The house has 4 bedroom; one master bedroom, a bedroom with 2 bunk beds for the kiddos and 2 bedrooms with queen beds each. The beach is just a 5 minute walk away.
– Pet friendly – house has a yard and even bowls for your furry friend.
– Kid friendly – playhouse and media room.

For a girl’s getaway:

Girly Grounds is a very girly aesthetically pleasing house stay for you and your girlfriends. The house has 4 rooms and every single room has a one-of-a-kind, design. Only adults can stay here since it is for guests 21+. Add-ons are available to make your trip flawless including charcuterie boards, fully stocked fridge, additional decor for the bride or birthday girl, golf cart rental, massage therapist, facials, and permanent jewelry sessions. For a romantic escape:

If you’re planning a romantic getaway to Galveston, Harbor House Hotel and Marina at Pier 21 is such a perfect spot! It’s right on the water, and the rooms have beautiful harbor views that make mornings feel extra peaceful. You can walk straight to The Strand, which is full of cute coffee shops and local boutiques, so fun to explore with your partner. Plus, the hotel includes free breakfast, which is always a nice bonus before heading out for the day.

The San Luis Resort Condos are perfect for a romantic getaway. The condos have everything you need to make your stay amazing and the sunset views from here are breathtaking. The best part is that by staying at the condos you can use the San Luis Resort amenities like the heated pool, lounge areas and hot tub.

For an outdoor adventure:

Go camping at Galveston Island State Park and stay by the beach or bay campsites. I really like the beach access from the beach campsites because is very close and there aren’t many people around the beach area.

Best Way to Move Around

Rent a golf cart it’s a lot of fun and a very unique way to see the island. If not you can also rent bikes, drive your car or rent a car.

Where to Eat

Galveston Island offers a variety of cafes, restaurants, and even a Tiki speakeasy for you to enjoy on your trip.

Restaurants

Below are some of my favorite places to enjoy delicious food in the island.

• The Sunflower Bakery & Cafe – This is one of my favorite spots for breakfast because the dishes are delicious and the service is always amazing. It does get full on the weekends around lunch time so I recommend you to go early or later.
• Mosquito Cafe– is a Galveston staple! Try the eggs Benedict. I also recommend you to go before or after lunchtime because this place always has a line on the weekends.
• Canela Cafe – is a hidden gem in Galveston. It has authentic Mexican dishes and the prices are very affordable. Every dish I have tried here has been amazing. Try an agua fresca, they are super refreshing, specially during the summer time. Try to go during the week or after lunchtime on the weekends because this place gets pack.
• Leeland House Galveston – Brunch is serve daily until 3 p.m. The service and restaurant are very charming.
• Sugar & Rye -If you want to splurge this place is perfect for a romantic or fancy dinner.
• Gorditas Mexico – By Steward beach. It has very tasty Mexican food and a patio with a nice view of the beach.
• Mario’s Seawall Italian Restaurant – delicious Italian restaurant with very good pastas and pizzas. The portions are big, so you can share your plate and pizza with someone else.
• Fisherman’s Wharf – Great spot to see cruise ships and enjoy seafood. This is one of my favorite spots to eat around sunset time. Sometimes you can see dolphins swimming nearby.
• Willie G’s in Galveston – The food is so good (you have to try the Rockefeller oysters), and the views of the harbor as the sun goes down make it even better. The service is great too—super friendly and attentive.

Coffee & Tea Shops

• Freckleberry Teahouse – This is one of the most charming boba tea shops I been. Their drinks are very refreshing and they have a variety of flavors. They also have a seasonal menu.
• Seawall Coffee Company – This is a super cute coffee shop near the Seawall. The staff is super friendly. I WFH from this coffee shop and really enjoyed it because they also have tasty food options available.
• Red Light Coffee Roasters – Cozy coffee shop with a nice patio. Try the Nightcrawler. Don’t forget to check out the colorful mural right next to this place.
• Sugar Bean Coffee & Cream – a hidden gem with a beautiful outdoor area and nice interior. The lattes and pastries are delicious. You can also get ice cream here.
• MOD Coffeehouse – Cozy coffee shop with very unique latte flavors. My favorite latte is the Grasshopper. Enjoy live music on the weekends.

Snacks & Drinks

• Right next to Gorditas Mexico there is a walk-up window that sells delicious Mexican snacks like elote, chicharron, aguas frescas and mangonadas. It’s only cash.
• Pineapple Parlor – is the only Tiki speakeasy in the island. Make sure you make reservation because this place fills up fast! To get the secret code to enter you will need to go to their website.
• Pelican & the Shark – a pier by 61st street with amazing views and good cocktails. I love watching the sunset and fishermen fishing from here.
• La King’s Confectionery – Old-school candy store from the 1920’s offering delicious ice cream and coffee.
• Murdochs – grab a frozen cocktail and sit on the porch chairs overlooking the gulf.

Beaches to Visit

Stewart Beach

This beach is on the East end of Galveston Island and is one of the most popular beaches.

East Beach

One of my favorite beaches because it’s located at the far eastern tip of the island and there aren’t as many people as Stewart Beach or the Seawall.

Seawall

You can walk, jog or ride a bike along the 10 mile Seawall. There are lifeguards during the summer season and this is a perfect place to watch the sunrise or sunset in Galveston.

Parking

You will have to pay parking $10-$15 for Steward or East Beach, but you can buy the $50 seasons pass for unlimited parking. Click here for more information.

Attractions

Enjoy many fun attractions at Galveston Island like thrilling rides, nature and art.

• Galveston Island State Park – If you love nature you most visit this beautiful state park. Enjoy a picnic by the beach or have fun kayaking at the bay.
• Dolphin Watching Boat Tour in Galveston Bay – Take a boat ride around the harbor to spot playful dolphins and see some of Galveston’s most unique landmarks from the water. I highly recommend doing the sunset tour, the views are absolutely stunning and make the experience even more magical.
• Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier – If you’re looking for a fun-filled day by the sea, don’t miss out on this place. From thrilling rides to breathtaking views of the Gulf Coast, this place has it all.
• Galveston ArtWalk – This is a free event for everyone that happens every 6-8 weeks. You will have an amazing time seeing local art and listening to live music as your stroll through different art galleries.
• The Historic Strand District or as local call it The Strand – this area contains historic architecture, boutiques, coffee shops, restaurants and colorful murals.
• OceanStar Museum & Education Center – Very detailed and thoughtfully laid out exhibit to explain how we get oil out of the ground. You get to experience what it’s like to work on a rig.

Dónde Hospedarse

Galveston cuenta con una gran variedad de alojamientos únicos, desde hermosas casas de playa hasta condominios con vistas espectaculares. A continuación, algunos lugares en los que me he alojado en Galveston y que me encantaron.

Para unas vacaciones en familia:

Se pueden añadir extras para que tu viaje sea impecable, como tablas de embutidos, nevera completamente surtida, decoración adicional para la novia o la cumpleañera, alquiler de carritos de golf, masajista, faciales y sesiones de joyería permanente. Para una escapada romántica:

Si estás planeando una escapada romántica a Galveston, ¡Harbor House Hotel and Marina at Pier 21 es el lugar perfecto! Está justo frente al agua, y las habitaciones tienen vistas hermosas al puerto que hacen que las mañanas se sientan aún más tranquilas. Puedes caminar directamente a The Strand, una zona llena de cafeterías lindas y boutiques locales, perfecta para explorar con tu pareja. Además, el hotel incluye desayuno gratis, lo cual siempre es un buen plus antes de salir a disfrutar del día.

San Luis Resort Condos son perfectos para una escapada romántica. Lo mejor es que al alojarte en los condominios puedes utilizar las comodidades del San Luis Resort, como la piscina climatizada, las áreas de descanso y la bañera de hidromasaje.

Para una aventura al aire libre:

Ve de camping al Galveston Island State Park y quédate en los campamentos de playa o bahía. Me gusta mucho el acceso a la playa desde los campamentos de playa porque está muy cerca y no hay mucha gente alrededor del área de la playa.

La Mejor Manera de Moverse

Alquilar un carrito de golf es muy divertido y una manera única de ver la isla. Si no, también puedes alquilar bicicletas, conducir tu propio coche o alquilar uno.

Dónde Comer

La Isla Galveston ofrece una variedad de cafeterías, restaurantes e incluso un speakeasy Tiki para que disfrutes en tu viaje.

Restaurantes

A continuación, algunos de mis lugares favoritos para disfrutar de deliciosa comida en la isla.

• Fisherman’s Wharf : Excelente lugar para ver cruceros y disfrutar de mariscos. Es uno de mis lugares favoritos para comer alrededor del atardecer. A veces puedes ver delfines nadando cerca.
• Willie G’s in Galveston –La comida está deliciosa (tienes que probar las ostras Rockefeller), y la vista del puerto al atardecer lo hace aún más especial. El servicio también es excelente—muy amable y atento.

Cafeterías de Café y Té

Snacks y Bebidas

• Justo al lado de Gorditas Mexico hay una ventana de venta al público que vende deliciosos snacks mexicanos como elote, chicharrón, aguas frescas y mangonadas. Solo se acepta efectivo.
• Pineapple Parlor: Es el único speakeasy Tiki en la isla. ¡Asegúrate de hacer una reserva porque este lugar se llena rápido! Para obtener el código secreto para entrar, tendrás que ir a su sitio web.
• Pelican & the Shark: Un muelle cerca de la calle 61 con vistas increíbles y buenos cócteles. Me encanta ver el atardecer y a los pescadores pescando desde aquí.
• La King’s Confectionery: una tienda de dulces de la década de 1920 que ofrece deliciosos helados y café.

Playas para Visitar

Playa Stewart

Esta playa se encuentra en el extremo este de la Isla Galveston y es una de las playas más populares.

Playa Este

Una de mis playas favoritas porque está ubicada en el extremo este de la isla y no hay tantas personas como en la Playa Stewart o en el Paseo Marítimo.

Seawall

Puedes caminar, correr o andar en bicicleta a lo largo de las 10 millas del Paseo Marítimo. Hay salvavidas durante la temporada de verano y este es un lugar perfecto para ver el amanecer o el atardecer en Galveston.

Estacionamiento

Tendrás que pagar entre $10 y $15 de estacionamiento para la Playa Stewart o la Playa Este, pero puedes comprar el pase de temporada de $50 para estacionamiento ilimitado. Haz clic aquí para obtener más información.

Galveston ArtWalk: Este es un evento gratuito para todos que sucede cada 6-8 semanas. Pasarás un tiempo increíble viendo arte local y escuchando música en vivo mientras paseas por diferentes galerías de arte.

El Distrito Histórico de Strand o como lo llaman los locales, The Strand: Esta área contiene arquitectura histórica, boutiques, cafeterías, restaurantes y coloridos murales.

OceanStar Museum & Education Center: Exhibición detallada y cuidadosamente diseñada para explicar cómo extraemos petróleo del suelo. Experimentarás cómo es trabajar en una plataforma petrolera.
